International symposium "Open Access policies by HORIZON 2020 and international issues regarding open science" -Common scholarly communication issues shared by Europe and Japan and the role of university libraries-

HORIZON 2020, European international research, development and innovation promoting project, declares that research outputs including research data produced as part of their funded project should be open access (OA). University library consortia are implementing several projects to support EU countries in adopting OA policies, researchers in following to OA, and research communities in participating in open data projects. The symposium is going to be held in Japan where a policy regarding open science is being considered, and the purpose is to share information about current situation and future of OA policies and OA supporting projects of EU from the perspective of research promotion and the role of university libraries.
