Kobe University Signs Academic Agreement with Yangon University of Economics March 3, 2015

On February 9, an inter-university academicexchange agreement was reached between Kobe University and Yangon University of Economics.

The signing ceremony, at the Nilar Yatu room of Yangon University of Economics, was attended by nearly 50 participants from the Embassy of Japan in Myanmar, the Myanmar Association of Japanese Alumni (MAJA), the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yangon, the University of Foreign Languages, Yangon and the Kobe University Alumni Association in Myanmar. The ceremony began with a warm welcoming address by Dr.Khin Naing Oo, President of Yangon University of Economics. Kobe University’s Executive Vice President FUJITA Seiichi, standing in for President FUKUDA Hideki, followed with a speech outlining the current status of Kobe University’s academic exchange, research and education programs. The ceremony concluded with the signing of the exchange agreement. Four news media outlets including Myanmar Radio and Television were in attendance. Executive Vice President FUJITA Seiichi was interviewed.

Following the ceremony, a party was held;in attendance were guests of honor, faculty of Yangon University of Economics and students from Kobe University who went to Myanmar through an internship abroad program. Myanmar, with its recentd emocratization in various areas, seems to have high hopes for the development of academic exchanges between Kobe University and Yangon University of Economics.
