Visit from Director General of Cambodia Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport

On 10th June 2015, His Excellency Lim Sothea, the Director General of the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport paid a courtesy visit to Professor INOUE Noriyuki, the Executive Vice President in Charge of International Exchange at Kobe University.

Led by Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies Professor OGAWA Keiichi, Kobe University has been involved in a project supported by the MEXT Official Development Assistance Grants for UNESCO Activities since FY2013. Director General Lim Sothea is also a member of this project, and they are currently creating a training manual aimed at ASEAN Ministry of Education officials.

In the last fiscal year, as part of a project to create an education, finance and administration guidebook aimed at the ASEAN-4, the Director General participated in a 3-day training course aimed at Ministry of Education officials on 9-11 February 2015 at the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. This year he is participating in the development of a finance and administration manual for schools in ASEAN countries.

During the courtesy visit, the Director General expressed his gratitude for Kobe University’s collaborative efforts in organizing a training course for the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport officials, and his hopes for continued collaboration with the University. He also informed attendees that the Cambodian Minister of Education, Youth and Sport would visit Kobe University in October this year.

After meeting with Executive Vice President INOUE, Director General Lim Sothea gave a lecture at the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies on policy and strategic plans for education in Cambodia.
