Courtesy Visit from Nanyang Technological University

On March 31, Professor Ling San (Dean, College of Science, Nanyang Technological University) paid a courtesy visit to Professor TAKEDA Hiroshi (President, Kobe University). In the meeting, attendees from Kobe University included Professor INOUE Noriyuki (Executive Vice-President in Charge of International Exchange) and Professor SAITO Masahiko (Dean, Graduate School of Science).

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a Singaporean national university established in 1991. Kobe University’s Research Institute for Economics and Business Administration concluded an Agreement of Academic Cooperation in the field of Economics with NTU in 2013. Since then, the two universities, in collaboration with Hanyang University in South Korea, have been organizing the Hanyang-Kobe-Nanyang Conference in Economics every year.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor TAKEDA and Professor San introduced their research areas. Following this, Professor San presented an overview of NTU’s College of Science and the education policies of the Singaporean government. Representatives from Kobe University introduced the University’s initiatives for internationalization (such as increasing the number of English-taught courses), and both sides exchanged positive opinions on conducting student exchange in the near future.
