Rector of Airlangga University visits Kobe University

On June 29, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih (Rector, Airlangga University, Indonesia) visited Kobe University, leading a delegation from Airlangga University consisting of Dr. Muhammad Madyan (Vice Rector for Finance, Human Resources and Facilities), Prof. Moch. Amin Alamsjah (Vice Rector for Research and Institutional Collaboration Affairs), Dr. Darmawan Setijanto (Dean, Faculty of Dental Medicine), Prof. Dr. Win Darmanto (Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology), Prof. Dr. Mirni Lamid (Dean, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine) and Mrs.Dian Ekowati (Head, International Office and Partnership).

Airlangga University is a national comprehensive university located in Surabaya, Indonesia, and has an inter-university academic cooperation agreement with Kobe University. It has been actively collaborating in particular with the Kobe University Graduate Schools of Medicine and Health Sciences; the Kobe University International Collaborative Research Center for Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases in Indonesia is located within the Institute of Tropical Diseases, Airlangga University.

The delegation first paid a courtesy visit to Prof. TAKEDA Hiroshi (President, Kobe University). From Kobe University Prof. SHOJI Ikuo (Graduate School of Medicine) and Assoc. Prof. KAMEOKA Masanori (Graduate School of Health Sciences) attended the meeting. In this meeting both sides expressed their appreciation for the long-standing cooperation mainly in medicine and health sciences and affirmed their intention to further develop the existing ties.

Following the courtesy visit, the delegation met researchers to discuss the further development of educational and research exchanges between the two universities. From Kobe University, Assoc. Prof. Kameoka, Prof. OGINO Chiaki (Graduate School of Engineering), Assoc. Prof. SHIMAMURA Yasuharu (Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies), Project Assistant Prof. Prihardi Kahar (Graduate School of Engineering), and Project Assistant Prof. MAISAWA Tatsuya (Centerfor Asian Academic Collaboration) attended the meeting. In this meeting the delegates from Airlangga University introduced its profile and international activities and proposed new academic exchanges in economics, business administration, engineering, maritime sciences and international cooperation studies. The attendees from Kobe University welcomed this proposal and discussed various ways to foster cooperation. Kobe University hopes that this visit will be an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation with Airlangga University.
