Professor Keiichi Ogawa Delivered a Keynote Speech in Saudi Arabia

Dr. Keiichi Ogawa, Professor of the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies (GSICS), was invited by the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia to deliver a keynote speech in the Second Annual Scientific Forum held in Riyadh on November 27th and 28th, 2017. The theme of this forum was “school partnership with family and community”, and Professor Ogawa shared his research on the Japanese case of partnerships among local governments, schools, households, and communities by presenting the initiatives of community schools.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al-Issa, the Education Minister, delivered an opening speech, and more than four hundred invited ministry of education (MOE) officers, school principals/teachers and parents’ representatives participated in the forum. This forum had four workshop sessions, and Professor Ogawa also conducted a two-hour workshop on “Whole School Development Approach to Promote Partnership among Schools, Family and Community” to more than one hundred participants. He shared his project experiences on school-based management approaches conducted in Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, and active discussions were held among the participants to promote the quality of education by strengthening partnerships among the three key stakeholders (school, family and community).
