The Information Science and Technology Center (ISTC) of Kobe University was established in April 2003 to provide computational services and network infrastructure for university members and to conduct research in computer science and technology, including computer education, high performance computing, and computer networks. The facilities of ISTC include (1) a high performance computer system with 16 CPUs, (2) 1,215 computer terminals for education, (3) a gigabit network system, (4) high performance network servers, and (5) a firewall system and antivirus software to cope with the network security.
