Faculty of Human Development

The Faculty of Human Development was established by re-organizing the former Faculty of Education, to conduct education and research on issues broadly concerning human development. The Faculty has 4 departments: the Department of Human Development and Education for the comprehensive study of human development from the perspective of lifelong education, the Department of Human Behavior for studying the interaction between human behavior and human development through the researches on health promotion, behavioral development and adaptation, and aspects of sport sciences, the Department of Human Expression, for studying the essence of creative expressions (music, art, performance etc.) by 3 aspects: culture, creation, and therapy-KANSEI, and the Department of Human Environmental Science, for studying interaction between man and the surrounding environment. These 4 departments correspond to 3 principal research areas, which students may major in. Additionally, we have an alternative course, Support for Human Development, open for junior and senior undergraduates from any department of the faculty.
