Social collaborations and contributions through cutting-edge multidisciplinary research

One of Kobe University’s major research initiatives is our Graduate School of Science, Technology and Innovation. The first multidisciplinary independent graduate school in Japan, it combines the social and natural sciences to produce science-oriented individuals who can oversee every stage in the research, development, and marketing process. The University also promotes advanced multidisciplinary research based on the “selection – training – exchange” cycle, focusing on priority areas for the creation of new academic domains. In addition, we are developing multidisciplinary research projects such as Future Cities, Social Systems, Signal Transduction, and Ocean-floor Explorations. These projects use our strengths as a university that strikes a balance across academic disciplines, with a focus on both traditional and practical social studies.
