The Sixth Conference of China-Japan University Presidents

Representatives from 21 Japanese Universities and 20 Chinese Universities attended the two day China-Japan University Presidents' Conference in Tianjin, China on October 15 and 16. President FUKUDA Hideki and Vice President / Director of International Exchange NAKAMURA Chiharu represented Kobe University at the conference.

Approximately 145 representatives from both countries gathered together to discuss topics of common interests including new ways to provide education and research for students in both countries. They also reconfirmed the need to further promote academic exchange and international student exchange agreements. At the conference, President FUKUDA gave a presentation titled, "Fostering young leaders for the world - a strategic partnership between China and Japan".

During their stay, President FUKUDA and Vice President NAKAMURA also met with representatives from Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Nankai University. Student/researcher exchanges, possibilities for joint researches and the necessity for further promotion of exchanges were discussed individually with each university. Vice President NAKAMURA also attended the 90th Anniversary of the founding of Nankai University on the 17th.
