We had the official establishment ceremony of the Graduate School of System Informatics

On July 25, a ceremony to commemorate the official establishment of the Graduate School of System Informatics was held at Rokko Hall within KOBE University Centennial Hall. This is the fourteenth graduate school of Kobe University established on April 1, 2010.

Over 120 people attended the ceremony, which began with a welcome speech by Dean TADA Yukio of the graduate school, followed by a speech by President FUKUDA Hideki. Mr. KOMATSU Shinjiro, the Deputy Director General of Higher Education Bureau, MEXT then delivered a congratulatory address. The ceremony ended with special lectures by Dean TADA titled, "System Informatics - An Approach into a New Realm", and "The next generation supercomputer and the fostering of human resources - Expectations for the new graduate school", from Dr. HIRAO Kimihiko of RIKEN.

The guests were then invited to a celebration party, which was held in the Takikawa Memorial Hall. Professor LUO Zhiwei, Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Informatics, welcomed everyone with a short speech, followed by a toast by Professor TAKEDA Hiroshi, Vice President and Director in charge of Research. Many familiar faces were on hand to celebrate this event and to wish for its further development. Among them were Dean MORIMOTO Masayuki of the Graduate School of Engineering, Dr. NOGAMI Tomoyuki (the former President of Kobe University) and Dr. KITAMURA Shinzo (the former Vice President of Kobe University) who also delivered congratulatory speeches. The celebration came to a close with a concluding remarks from Professor USUI Hiromoto, the special advisor to the President.
