Kobe University International Residence
Located on Port Island, this residence was built exclusively for international students and researchers in March 1981. In 1986, an annex was built to provide more living spaces and amenities.
The five-story reinforced concrete building houses 22 single rooms, 2 married-couple rooms, and 4 family-type rooms. For details, ask the staff in the General Affairs Section of the appropriate graduate school, school or faculty.

Kobe University International House (Fukae area)
Located within 8 minutes walk northeast from Hanshin Fukae Station. The House was built in 2000 as a residence hall exclusively for foreign researchers and students engaging in research and study at Kobe University. The main purpose was to promote international exchange between foreign and Japanese researchers and students. The House offers two single rooms for single use, two married-couple rooms, and one family room for researchers. For details, please ask the staff at the General Affairs Section of the appropriate graduate school, school, or faculty you belong to.

Rent Subsidy SystemKobe University has a rent subsidy system for eligible international researchers who agree to live in one of the private or public-run apartments designated by the University in the event there is no room available in either of the two dormitories (International Residence and International House). Under this system, the University will pay for approximately one half the monthly rent. However, individual resident must pay utilities. For details, ask the staff at the General Affairs Section of the appropriate graduate school, school, or faculty.
