When a researcher leaves Japan temporarily (during vacation etc.), he/she must notify the fellow/partner professor, and report it to the administrative office in advance. Before leaving Japan, he/she must obtain Re-entry Permit from the Immigration Bureau. The Re-entry Permit expires on the same day as the visa. Therefore, anyone who wishes to re-enter after the expiration of the current period of stay must extend the period of stay first, and subsequently apply for the Re-entry Permit.
