The Cultural Interaction Department consists of the Area Studies Division for interdisciplinary studies regarding region-specific cultural traits and cultural metamorphosis, and the Intercultural Communication Division for multifaceted research on the reality of cross-cultural contacts, conflicts and interactions. This Department aims for (1) understanding of cultures of different regions, (2) understanding of cross-cultural relations and interactions, and (3) development of cross-cultural communication abilities.

Doctoral Program: Developing Independent Researchers

Designed for in-depth study in a specialized research field, this program provides support and flexibility enabling students to obtain a PhD in three years.
