Professor Susumu Seino, Endowed Chair of Molecular and Metabolic Medicine, will receive the 2018 Arthur Riggs Award from City of Hope (a noted non-profit organization for healthcare, medical research, and medical education) which recognizes contributions in the basic science of diabetes. This award is named after Prof. Arthur Riggs, the pioneering geneticist whose works led to protein production by artificial gene in bacteria such as insulin. Prof. Seino is the first Japanese awardee. He will deliver his award lecture on February 3, 2018 during the Rachniel Levine-Arthur Riggs Diabetes Research Symposium, in California, USA.
