Collection of Physical Apparatus in Former Himeji High School

Yukio Fukuda, Professor, Faculty of Science, Kobe University

The list of items purchased for physics classes at the Former Himeji High School (1923 to 1950) includes 570 items (with approximately 700 individual pieces). In 1950, Kobe University took over these items, of which approximately 300 pieces presently remain.

This collection consists of: equipment for the students in the class of physics laboratories; equipment used by the instructor who demonstrated physics experiments in physics classes; and equipment for research by the instructor. The collection is a precious source of information regarding physics education and research at the Himeji High School in those days.
