Kobe University 120th Anniversary / GSICS 30th Anniversary: KOBE PCRC Antarctic Open Symposium Series 2022 "The Future of Antarctic Cooperation and Global Geopolitical Challenges"

In light of increasing global geopolitical challenges, is the Antarctic Treaty and its legal system (ATS) still fit for the purpose of maintaining Antarctica as a natural reserve devoted to peace and science?

Looking ahead towards future meetings (to be held in Finland in 2023, Italy in 2025 and Japan in 2026), world-renowned experts will discuss whether or not the ATS has the capacity to continue as the dominant form of governance in the Antarctic.
