The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) Foreign Diplomatic Seminar was held at Kobe University on November 21. Mr. KASAHARA Kenichi, Assistant Chief of Protocol and Minister’s Secretariat to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was the guest speaker and gave a lecture titled Foreign Diplomacy and the Role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The seminar was conducted as part of a course titled European Economy offered by Professor YOSHII Masahiko at the Graduate School of Economics, and was moderated by Professor INOUE Noriyuki, Executive Vice President in charge of International Exchange. The lecture provided details about foreign diplomacy and jobs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and described the reality of working in the field of foreign diplomacy. Approximately 50 students, mostly from the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law, attended the lecture. The seminar was followed by a Q&A session, and participants asked numerous questions about the role of a diplomat and Japanese diplomatic power at international conferences, among others.
The seminar motivated students interested in studying abroad or working in a globalized world to seriously consider their career development.
