On 27 January, Mr. Charles-Henri Brosseau, Consul General of France in Kyoto, paid a courtesy visit to Professor TAKEDA Hiroshi, President of Kobe University. Attendees of the meeting included Mr. Ken Perez, Course Director at the Institut français du Japon-Kansai; Mr. KATOU Maro from Campus France Kansai; and Professor INOUE Noriyuki, Executive Vice-President in Charge of International Exchange.

Previously, Mr. Brosseau gave a lecture at Kobe University in December 2014 as part of the EU Lecture Series organized by the Centrefor EU-Japan Collaborative Education (EJCE).

At the beginning of the meeting, both sides expressed their willingness to exchange information regarding academic events organized by France and Japan (such as those related to the 55th anniversary of the Marseille-Kobe sister city relationship) and to foster cooperation. Afterwards both sides exchanged opinions on the current situation of French language education in Japan and collaboration between Institut français and Kobe University.

After the meeting, the visitors held a meeting with faculty members of Kobe University. Both sides discussed the specifics of the collaboration in French language education and agreed to stay in close contact regarding this matter.
