Visit from the Sudan Academy of Sciences

On October 5, President of the Sudan Academy of Sciences Professor Eisa Ibrahim El Gaali visited Professor OGAWA Matsuto (Executive Vice President in Charge of Research and Industry-University Cooperation). The meeting was also attended by Professor YUI Kiyomitsu (Executive Assistant to the President in Charge of International Collaboration) and Professor SUGIMOTO Yukihiro (Graduate School of Agricultural Science).

The meeting began with an introduction to the Sudan Academy of Sciences from President Eisa. Following this, Professor SUGIMOTO presented a joint research initiative by Kobe University and the Republic of Sudan National Center for Research concerning the parasitic weed striga. This project was selected as SATREPS (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development). They also discussed the potential for expanding exchange between both countries in addition to research collaborations, including students from the Republic of Sudan participating in Kobe University’s summer program, and Japanese students visiting the Republic of Sudan as exchange students.

Before the meeting, President Eisa visited Professor MIYANO Takashi (Dean of the Graduate School of Agricultural Science) to discuss various matters. We look forward to fostering further exchange between our University and the Republic of Sudan.
