On October 25, a delegation from the Legislative Council of Western Australia visited Kobe University. The delegation, led by President of the Legislative Council of Western Australia Hon. Barry House, met with Professor YUI Kiyomitsu (Executive Assistant to the President in Charge of International Collaboration), Professor TOMIYAMA Akio (Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering) and Professor MATSUYAMA Hideto (Director of the Center for Membrane and Film Technology).
The state of Western Australia signed a sister agreement with Hyogo prefecture in 1981 and they are actively engaged in both economic and cultural exchange. Kobe University is involved in researcher and student exchange programs based on academic exchange agreements with the University of Western Australia, Curtin University and Murdoch University (all located in Western Australia).
The meeting started with a welcoming address from Executive Assistant to the President Professor YUI and a brief introduction to the academic exchange activities taking place between Kobe University and the University of Western Australia. This was followed by a presentation from Professor MATSUYAMA on our University’s Center for Membrane and Film Technology and membrane engineering research. The delegation from Western Australia asked questions concerning how membrane engineering research could contribute to solving social issues such as water resources management, and an active discussion took place.
We look forward to further exchange between Kobe University and Western Australia.
