Representatives from Kobe University participated in two explanatory events about studying in Japan, on October 26 at the Central University of Finance and Economics Shahe Campus and October 27 at the University of International Business and Economics (both located in Beijing). These events were organized by the Embassy of Japan in China to provide information for students who wish to study abroad in Japan. Approximately 80 students from the Central University of Finance and Economics and 120 students from the University of International Business and Economics participated.
Each event began with an introduction to studying abroad in Japan and an explanation of the scholarship system for international students, given by the Embassy of Japan in China First Secretary KIKUCHI Shintaro. This was followed by a 15-minute presentation from each of the three participating Japanese universities introducing their institutions. To finish, the participating students asked representatives from each university various questions.
The Central University of Finance and Economics, where the first event was held, is a university focused on the humanities and social sciences and specializing in economics. It also has a Japanese studies department. The participating students asked many questions, covering topics such as entrance examinations for Kobe University’s Graduate School of Economics and Graduate School of Business Administration, English-taught courses, and double degree programs.
The University of International Business and Economics is a social sciences and humanities-focused university specializing in economics and trade, also with a Japanese studies department. Questions from students at this institution included the budget for studying at Kobe University and the special subjects offered at the Graduate School of Humanities.
In both universities we could see that students were very enthusiastic about studying in Japan. We look forward to further developments in exchange with the Central University of Finance and Economics and the University of International Business and Economics.
