On February 22 and 23, the Politics, Society and Education Director at Casa Asia Mr. Rafael Bueno visited Kobe University, and discussed expanding the University’s exchange initiatives in southern Europe.
Casa Asia is a public institution founded in November 2001 by a consortium formed from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Government of Catalonia, and the Barcelona and Madrid City Councils. The institution aims to promote exchange in culture, academia, economics and education between Spain and the Asia-Pacific region. In May 2016 Casa Asia and Kobe University signed a Memorandum of Understanding for mutual exchange, including a student internship program.
On February 22, Mr. Bueno explained the Casa Asia internship program to students, faculty and staff members. Students asked about the details of the internship, and it provided an opportunity to introduce Casa Asia to interested parties at the University.
On February 23, Mr. Bueno visited Professor INOUE Noriyuki (Executive Vice President for International Exchange), and discussed strengthening collaborations between Kobe University, Casa Asia and southern Europe. The meeting was attended by Professor YUI Kiyomitsu (Executive Assistant to the President in Charge of International Collaboration) and Professor SAKAI Kazunari (Head of the Program Coordination Section, Center for International Education). During the meeting the members talked about the plans for joint activities and increased collaboration, and engaged in meaningful dialogue about the University’s internationalization programs.
Kobe University will continue to strengthen international exchange activities in southern Europe and promote increased collaboration in research and education between Europe and Japan.
