Visit from Taiwan career matching delegation

June 16, 2017

On May 22, a delegation from Taiwan visited Kobe University as part of a trip to Japan to discuss career options in Taiwan and industry-government collaboration. The delegation comprised 12 members, led by Mr. WANG Jianping (Head of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Department of Investment Services). They paid a courtesy visit to Professor INOUE Noriyuki (Executive Vice-President in Charge of International Exchange, Kobe University). The visit was also attended by Professor KASHIMURA Shiro, Head of the Kobe University Career Center.

The meeting began with greetings from both sides, and Professor KASHIMURA introduced the career support provided by Kobe University. This was followed by an explanation of the Contact Taiwan project from Mr LIU Xinyi (Taiwan External Trade Development Council Service Promotion Center). The Contact Taiwan project is a Ministry of Economic Affairs initiative to engage talented overseas workers to live and work in Taiwan. During the discussion, members of the Taiwanese delegation expressed their wishes to increase the number of Kobe University graduates working in Taiwanese companies through projects such as Contact Taiwan. The visit continued with a discussion of the importance of internships when seeking employment in overseas companies, and the potential for an academic exchange agreement.

The delegation visited three universities in the Kansai region of Japan, with the aim of expanding industry-university exchange. We hope this visit will create further opportunities for exchange with companies in Taiwan, Asia and worldwide.
