On June 22, LI Chunsheng, Consul at the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Osaka, visited Professor INOUE Noriyuki (Executive Vice President in Charge of International Exchange) to give a farewell address. Their meeting was also attended by WU Jinsong (Consul Li’s successor), SHENG Hongqiang (Consul for the Education Office of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Osaka), and from Kobe University, Professor HUANG Lin (Deputy Director of the Center for Asian Academic Collaboration) and Professor LUO Zhi-wei (Director of the Kobe University China Office).
Consul Li expressed his gratitude to Kobe University for expanding academic and research exchange activities in China and for accepting students from China. He stated that the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Osaka intends to cooperate and play an even greater role in facilitating educational exchanges. Professor INOUE remarked that students from China are the largest nationality group among international students at Kobe University and expressed his intention to strengthen partnerships with Chinese universities and research institutions.
During the meeting, attendees spoke of their memories of Kobe City and Kobe University's historical association with China, with both sides exchanging views on the Kobe University China Office, the International Cooperative Research Bases, the Japan-China Rectors’ Conference, exchange programs in Asia and other topics.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China. Further amicable exchange and academic collaboration are expected. Kobe University will continue to facilitate exchanges through collaboration with Chinese universities and research institutions.
