On May 4 and 5 the World University Presidents Symposium and Beijing Forum took place at Peking University and the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing as part of Peking University’s 120th anniversary celebrations. The event was attended from Kobe University by Professor Noriyuki Inoue (Executive Vice President in Charge of International Exchange) and Professor Lin Huang (Vice-Director of the Center for Asian Academic Collaboration).
The 120th anniversary celebrations were attended by 116 university presidents, chancellors and representatives from 44 countries and regions, including Yale University, the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, Harvard University, the University of Tokyo, Seoul National University, and the University of Hong Kong, as well as presidents and representatives from 130 universities in China including Tsinghua University. Peking University is one of our partner institutions. During the event, Professor Inoue conveyed our University’s congratulations on Peking University’s 120th anniversary and presented a gift to Peking University Vice President Gang Tian.

On the second day, breakout sessions for the symposium were held at Peking University, and a fruitful discussion took place between leaders and presidents from universities around the world.
We hope that this event will further strengthen Kobe University’s ties with Peking University, as well as other universities in China and worldwide.
