Visit from the Embassy of Turkmenistan

November 29, 2021

On November 24, President FUJISAWA Masato received a visit from His Excellency Curbanmamet Elyasov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan. Their meeting was also attended by the embassy’s second secretary Govher Berdiyeva and the minister’s secretary MATSUSHITA Nana.

They exchanged opinions on how to strengthen cooperation between Kobe University and universities in Turkmenistan. Next year marks 30 years since Turkmenistan’s independence and various Japanese industries continue to expand their businesses in the country. In light of this background, Ambassador Elyasov expressed his desire to further develop exchange with Japanese universities in order to strengthen education. Continuing the discussion, the ambassador made references to possibilities for exchange primarily in the medical, engineering and scientific fields, especially his hopes for medical-related academic exchange. President Fujisawa responded that he would like to consider the possibility of commencing academic exchange with universities in Turkmenistan and discussed challenges related to revitalizing bilateral student exchange.
