The Faculty of System Informatics aims to foster individuals who possess knowledge and understanding of global issues and current affairs, and who are capable of applying and holistically integrating knowledge and technologies from various specialized fields of system informatics. Such individuals are expected to take a leading role in solving diverse societal problems and co-creating new value. To this end, the Faculty seeks to admit students as follows:

Applicants with the following qualities and abilities are sought:

  1. Students who possess a solid foundation in the general content of high school education, as well as excellent thinking and decision-making skills particularly in science-related subjects, and who also exhibit one or more of the following qualities or abilities:
    (Required competences: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgment, and expression)
  2. Students with outstanding thinking and judgment abilities, especially regarding the comprehension and application of science-related subjects.

  3. Students who have actively engaged in notable activities that demonstrate a strong interest in and motivation for science-related fields.

  4. Students who demonstrate strong interest in social and environmental issues, and possess rich values and worldviews that contribute to diversity.

Applicants should have acquired the following abilities in high school, etc.:

  • Japanese Language: ability to comprehend texts and express ideas clearly.
  • Geography and History/Civics: broad and comprehensive knowledge, and the analytical ability to understand various social phenomena.
  • Mathematics: mathematical reasoning, expressive ability, and holistic thinking.
  • Science: comprehensive understanding of natural sciences and logical thinking.
  • Foreign Language: reading comprehension, communication skills, and expressive ability.
  • Informatics: scientific understanding and practical utilization of information.
     

Basic Policy for the Selection of Students:
In order to select students demonstrating the qualities above, in line with the Diploma Policy and Curriculum Policy of the Faculty of System Informatics, the Faculty assesses various competences in the entrance examinations below.

  • General entrance examination is designed to access “knowledge and technique” as well as “critical thinking, good judgment, and expression.”
  • “Kokorozashi” special entrance examination is designed to assess “knowledge and technique,” “critical thinking, good judgment, and expression,” and “interest and motivation.”
  • Recommendation-based examination (Women’s Quota) is designed to assess “knowledge and technique,” “critical thinking, good judgment, and expression,” “rich values and worldview,” and “interest and motivation.”
  • Special entrance examination for privately funded international students is designed to assess “knowledge and technique,” “critical thinking, good judgment, and expression,” and “interest and motivation.”
  • Entrance examination for third-year transfer students is designed to assess “knowledge and technique,” “critical thinking, good judgment, and expression,” and “interest and motivation.”
