Monday, March 9: Symposium “Migrants and Migration: Looking at the EU from the Outside-In”

This symposium aims to promote discussion on migrants and migration from the perspective of “looking at the EU from the outside-in.” Researchers from Japan and Latin America, together with students and faculty members from Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and Kobe University, will engage in dialogue on this timely and globally significant issue. Migration is not only a central theme in today’s increasingly globalized society, but the movement of people is also an experience that touches us all.

Through guest lectures and interactive discussions, the symposium will explore migration-related issues from micro-, meso- and macro-level perspectives.

Beyond academic exchange, the symposium seeks to encourage networking among participants, advance international research collaboration in migration studies and strengthen partnerships between Kobe University and overseas universities. By offering students studying abroad practical opportunities for international learning, it also aims to enhance the educational value of the study abroad experience.
