The Faculty of Global Human Sciences aims to produce graduates who can tackle issues arising in global society such as those related to the environment, natural disasters, ethnicity, religion, economic disparity, human rights, education, social welfare, etc. with a deep sense of human understanding and compassion. In addition, graduates will contribute to building a global society where people around the world coexist beyond borders. The Faculty achieves these objectives by accepting students according to the policy below.

Applicants are sought with the following qualities and abilities:

  1. Fundamental ability to identify various issues in modern society, examine such issues multilaterally, and organize their thoughts.

  • Applicants should have acquired the following abilities in high school, etc.:
    • Japanese Language: Reading comprehension, communication skills, and expressive skills;
    • Geography and History/Civics: A wide range of comprehensive knowledge and the analytical ability required to understand various social phenomena;
    • Mathematics: General mathematical skills, including mathematical expression and logical thinking;
    • Science: General understanding of natural sciences and logical thinking;
    • Foreign Language: Reading comprehension, communication skills, and expressive skills.

Basic Policy for the Selection of Students:

To select students in accordance with the Faculty of Global Human Sciences’ Diploma Policy and Curriculum Policy, the competences of each applicant are assessed through one of the following examinations:

  • General entrance examination to assess competence in the following areas: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression.
  • Comprehensive entrance examination to assess competence in the following areas: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; initiative and cooperativeness; interest and motivation.
  • “Kokorozashi” special entrance examination to assess competence in the following areas: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; initiative and cooperativeness; interest and motivation.
  • Recommendation-based entrance examination to assess competence in the following areas: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; initiative and cooperativeness; interest and motivation.
  • Special entrance examination for working adults to assess competence in the following areas: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; initiative and cooperativeness; interest and motivation.
  • Special entrance examination for privately funded international students to assess competence in the following areas: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; initiative and cooperativeness; interest and motivation.
