Tuition Fee Exemption

Students who have difficulty with the payment of the tuition fee due to any of the following circumstances may be granted a full or half of the tuition fee exemption based on screening of applications submitted for the first or second semester.

Undergraduate students who:

have difficulty with the payment of the tuition fee as a result of suffering due to a natural disaster experienced by the student or his/her household supporters within 6 months before the due date (12 months for the tuition fees for the first semester for new undergraduate students) 

Graduate students who:

1. have an outstanding academic record and have difficulty with the payment of the tuition fee for financial reasons.
2. have difficulty with the payment of the tuition fee due to the death of household supporters, or as a result of suffering due to a natural disaster experienced by the student or his/her household supporters within 6 months before the due date (12 months for the tuition fees for the first semester for new graduate students) 

The household supporters for international students mean applicants themselves and their spouses living in Japan. Parents and/or other family members who do not live in Japan are not applicable.

Please note that the following students are not eligible:

1. Students who have already paid tuition fees for the semester for which he/she is applying for its exemption
2. Students who have remained in the same academic year without good reason
3. Students who have exceeded the standard number of years required for graduation without good reason
4. Students who are planning to take a leave of absence for part of the semester for which he/she is applying for its exemption

The application distribution period and application reception hours will be announced on bulletin boards and on this website.

* Please note that students wishing to receive an exemption for the first semester are requested to submit their application during the spring vacation before the semester begins; and those wishing to receive an exemption for the second semester are requested to submit their application during the summer vacation before the semester begins.

The detailed schedule will be announced on bulletin boards and the University's website as soon as available. Students wishing to receive an exemption are requested to apply in accordance with the instructions on the bulletin boards and website.
