On June 11, a delegation of 21 faculty members and students from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech) in Taiwan, led by Professor Mei Ho, vice dean for International Affairs, School of Management, called on Executive Assistant KONDO Narihiko, vice director of Institute for Promoting International Partnership.
This visit was initiated as a result of the participation of IKEMURA Akiko, project associate professor at the Graduate School of Agricultural Science and the Center for Next Generation of the Institute for Promotion of Higher Education (in-person) and YU Wen Hsin, project assistant professor at the Global Education Center of the Institute for Promotion of Higher Education (online), in the “University Showcase” hosted by the Office of International Affairs at Taiwan Tech on May 13.
The meeting was attended by participants including Assistant Professor Yu-Ling Hsu, administrative staff Kelly Ke, and 18 students from Taiwan Tech, as well as NAKAZAWA Minato, director of the Asia & Oceania Division of the Institute for Promoting International Partnerships and professor at the Graduate School of Health Sciences, Project Associate Professor Ikemura, Project Assistant Professor Yu, and 7 students from Kobe University.
At the beginning of the meeting, a student from Taiwan Tech gave a presentation in English introducing the unique characteristics of their university. After the presentation, Executive Assistant Kondo introduced Kobe University’s international initiatives as well as the regional appeal of Kobe. The meeting proceeded in a friendly atmosphere, fostering a deeper mutual understanding between the two universities.
Participants also exchanged views on a range of potential collaborations, including joint online classes and research partnerships in addition to ongoing student exchanges.


After the meeting, the delegation from Taiwan Tech attended a lecture by KARASHIMA Masato, associate professor at the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies, further engaging with Kobe University’s students. The lecture included an introduction to the historical ties between Kobe’s Arima Onsen and Hsinchu County in Taiwan, sparking further interest in expanding mutual exchanges.


This visit is expected to further deepen exchanges between the two universities in the future.
