On July 24, the Brisbane Biodiversity Forum was held at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt. Coot-tha in Brisbane, Australia. ISHII Hiroaki, professor from the Graduate School of Agriculture at Kobe University, participated as a speaker.
This forum was jointly organized by Kobe City, Kobe University, Brisbane City and the University of Queensland as part of the events commemorating the 40th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Kobe and Brisbane.
Ishii gave a presentation on " Restoring Natural Forest Vegetation" alongside mayor of Kobe City, HISAMOTO Kizo.


As part of the commemorative events, Ishii also joined a guided field tour of dry sclerophyll forest and tropical rainforest research sites, led by a professor from the University of Queensland. He also visited Karawatha Forest Park, where participants took part in a commemorative tree-planting ceremony, and toured the ecological research facilities at Queensland University of Technology.

In addition, during this visit, Ishii met with the Global Strategy and Partnerships team at the University of Queensland to exchange views on potential academic collaboration and future exchanges between the two institutions.


This visit is expected to enhance academic exchanges between Kobe University and universities in Brisbane.
