On September 18, Rector Marwan of Syiah Kuala University (USK) paid a courtesy visit to President FUJISAWA Masato. Also in attendance were Hizir Sofyan, director of the Graduate School of USK, Aman Wirakartakusumah, professor emeritus at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and Amzul Rifin, head of the Education & Culture Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Tokyo.
From Kobe University, the meeting was attended by UCHIDA Yuichiro, professor and dean of the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies (GSICS), TANAKA Yasuo, professor emeritus at Kobe University, SAKURAI Aiko, professor at GSICS, Mizan Bisri, project associate professor at GSICS and HANADA Eva, associate professor at the Institute for Promoting International Partnerships.
During the courtesy visit, following a welcome address by President Fujisawa, Rector Marwan expressed his gratitude for the long-standing educational and research ties between the two universities since the signing of the inter-university academic exchange agreement in 2005. The discussions also highlighted opportunities to further broaden joint initiatives into diverse fields, building on their extensive achievements in disaster prevention, mitigation and recovery research.
Mr. Rifin then shared perspectives on the appeal of studying in Japan from the viewpoint of Indonesian students and conveyed his hopes for further exchange with Kobe University. Finally, Professor Sakurai emphasized the importance of young students and researchers in carrying forward the partnership between the two universities into the future.
After the courtesy meeting, Rector Marwan and his delegation visited the Research Center for Membrane and Film Technology, where they held discussions with Director MATSUYAMA Hideto on strengthening future academic collaboration.


This visit is expected to further deepen exchanges between the two universities in the future.
