To all students,

The recovery period for novel coronavirus infection has been revised based on communications received from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW)’s Novel Coronavirus Response Headquarters.

Instructions from medical institutions and health centers regarding your recovery take precedence. However, if you haven’t received any instructions, please follow the recovery periods outlined below:

1. If you have symptoms (eg. sore throat, fever etc.):

The recovery period will end after 7 days from the day after your symptoms started, or 24 hours after your symptoms have disappeared. However, if you are hospitalized at that time, the period is 10 days.

2. If you have no symptoms:

7 days from the day after you tested positive (the recovery period will end on the 8th day)

*Even if your result from a qualitative antigen test kit is negative on the 5th day, the recovery period is still 7 days.

These changes apply from September 14 2022 onwards, and apply to anyone who is infected as of that day.
