On July 3, Francesca Lo, the executive director of the Community Engagement and Leadership Education Center and Michaelann Jundt, a senior associate dean, from the University of Washington visited Kobe University to exchange views on future student exchange and short-term study abroad programs.

The meeting was attended by Executive Vice President TAMAKI Hisashi, director of the Office for Promoting International Cooperation, Executive Vice President KITA Takashi, KONDO Narihiko, vice director of the Office for Promoting International Cooperation and KURODA Chiharu, professor of the Center for Global Engagement.

At the beginning of the meeting, Tamaki expressed his appreciation for the longstanding relationship between the two universities and his expectations for further collaboration. Kita then introduced Kobe University's initiatives in international education and student exchange and expressed his hope for further expanding cooperation with the University of Washington.
Lo introduced the University of Washington's proposed short-term study abroad program, which aims to provide students with opportunities to learn about Japanese society and leadership through student exchange, as well as engagement with local communities and industry.

The participants then exchanged views on possible program components. Kobe University proposed incorporating company visits, internships and laboratory visits into the program, and the participants discussed opportunities for future collaboration.

This visit is expected to further strengthen student exchange and collaboration between the two universities.
