Kobe University’s Faculty of Global Human Sciences aims to produce ‘cooperative global graduates’ who can tackle global issues (the issues facing today’s society that need to be addressed through cooperation on a global scale) with a deep sense of human understanding and compassion, and are also capable of contributing to building a global society where people across the world can coexist beyond borders.

The faculty aims to achieve these objectives by awarding bachelor’s degrees according to the following policy.

Department of Global Cultures

The Faculty of Global Human Sciences awards degrees in global cultures as follows, based on the diploma policy of Kobe University.

  • Students study for a period of four years or more, and must obtain the prescribed credits required to complete the course.
  • Prior to graduating, students are expected to acquire the following skills in addition to capabilities set out in the Diploma Policy of Kobe University.
    • The ability to take a critical and logical approach in order to identify questions comprising global issues.
    • A broad range of communication skills making effective use of foreign languages and ICT, as well as information-gathering and analytical skills.
    • The ability to understand global issues from the perspective of cultural diversity.
    • The ability to cooperate with others and display leadership with the aim of tackling global issues.

Department of Human Development and Community

The Faculty of Global Human Sciences awards degrees in human development and community as follows, based on the Diploma Policy of Kobe University.

  • Students study for a period of four years or more, and must obtain the prescribed credits required to complete the course.
