To all students,

We express our heartfelt condolences to those who lost loved ones in the Noto Peninsula earthquake which occurred on January 1, 2024. Our sincere sympathies go out to all those affected by the disaster.

Although Kobe University is conducting classes as usual, first and foremost, prioritize your safety and that of your family. If you cannot take classes, please inform your class instructors or the academic affairs section of your affiliated faculty or graduate school. In case you did not have access to the internet beforehand, please contact them as soon as possible.

Furthermore, volunteer activities in the disaster-stricken area are currently not recommended because volunteer management has not been set up yet. Please refrain from proactive voluntary activities on your own in the earthquake-affected area for the time being.

With the prevalence of social media, there is a risk of unverified or false information being circulated. Please confirm the source and accuracy and be cautious about disseminating information that could contribute to confusion, such as conspiracy theories or false information.

We will provide updates on the university's response to this disaster on the university website.
