The basic principle of the School of Medicine’s Faculty of Health Sciences is to provide excellent healthcare- and health science-related education in the spirit of “integrity, freedom, and cooperation”; the purpose of which is to train health professionals with outstanding expert knowledge and techniques, as well as high ethical standards and scientific viewpoints. The Faculty of Health Sciences also aims to cultivate human resources who can play active roles internationally as leaders in their respective professional fields. The Faculty of Health Sciences therefore seeks students as detailed below.

Applicants are sought with the following qualities and abilities:

  1. Students with a clear sense of purpose and a strong motivation to learn,

  • Applicants should have acquired the following abilities in high school, etc.:
    • Japanese Language: reading comprehension and articulate expressiveness,
    • Geography and History/Civics; wide-ranging, integrated knowledge and the ability to analyze various social phenomena,
    • Mathematics: mathematical thinking, expressiveness and comprehensive ability,
    • Science: a comprehensive understanding of natural science and logical thinking,
    • Foreign Language: reading comprehension, communication and expressiveness.

Basic Policy for the Selection of Students:

To select students in line with Diploma Policy and Curriculum Policy of the Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, the university conducts entrance examinations which comprehensively assess each applicant’s competence in the following areas:

  • General entrance examination: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; and initiative and cooperativeness.
  • “Kokorozashi” special entrance examination and the examination for candidates recommended by senior high school principals: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; initiative and cooperativeness; and interest and motivation.
  • Special entrance examination for working adults: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; initiative and cooperativeness; and interest and motivation.
  • Special entrance examination for privately funded international students: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; initiative and cooperativeness; and interest and motivation.
